Burnham-On-Sea’s St Andrew’s Church will be holding its annual All Souls Service today (Sunday) when residents are encouraged to recall the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed away.
The special service will be held at 4pm.
Associate Vicar Sharon Eldergill told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “The Church has for centuries prayed for previous generations, and for those we have loved and who have died before us.”
“The All Souls Service is a special time when the people of Burnham come together to remember with thanks the life of their loved ones, and to light a candle in their memory. It’s a precious time of memory, mourning, thanksgiving and reflection.”
“Everyone is warmly welcome to come to this special service where there will be the opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one and to place their name on the tree of remembrance.”
This year, the All Souls Service will also begin building a prayer cairn of pebbles with the names of loved ones on.
The prayer cairn will remain and can be added to by others who wish to remember someone in prayer throughout the year, before the pebbles are taken to the beach to be returned to the sea next October.
All are very welcome to attend this peaceful, reflective service.
