Burnham-On-Sea’s Hillview Carnival Club has thanked local people for their support after a successful procession on Monday evening (November 4th).
The club’s Caribbean-themed cart, called ‘Iko Iko’, was cheered on by spectators along the route of the carnival.
It won the awards for ‘best local entry’ and ‘Chairman’s local choice’ and it came second in the ‘juvenile feature’ category behind Marina Sydenham.
Talking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Hillview Carnival Club Chairman Duncan Britton said: “The crowds were great – it was fantastic toi see them singing along and cheering when we came past through our home town.”
“The kids loved every minute of the evening. It’s our biggest carnival entry to date, so we are very proud.”
The club will be next taking part in the Weston Carnival this Friday evening.
Duncan thanked Burnham’s Tesco store for welcoming the children into their staff area on Monday evening to get ready for the parade.
