Quiz night organised by community-spirited teenager raises £420 for tourist centre

-

A quiz night organised by a community-spirited teenager has this week raised funds for the group that runs Burnham-On-Sea’s tourist information centre.

Sam Ashton, 16, is the youngest volunteer at the seafront tourism office and is raising funds for BIARS, Burnham Information and Rescue Support, which runs the centre, to ensure it stays open.

He organised the quiz evening at Burnham’s Coffee Corner cafe in Abingdon Street on Wednesday (October 30th) which was attended by 50 people and raised an impressive sum of £420.

Sam wrote the quiz, designed the tickets and posters, and collaborated with Coffee Corner owner Zena to open up specially, who gave the event her full support.

“The tourist centre is a great facility and it deserves all the support it can get,” says Sam. “That’s why I organised the event to help BIARS.”

He thanked all those who had attended, including the Mayor, and those who supported the event.
