Countdown begins to Burnham-On-Sea Food and Drink Festival on October 26th

-

The countdown is underway to Burnham-On-Sea’s next food and drink festival on Saturday 26th October.

Dozens of stalls will line Burnham’s town centre streets, offering a varied mix of produce from across the region.

The festival is being run by the award winning eat:Festivals team and promises a feast for the senses with many leading local food and drink producers booked in.

There will be lots going on at the all day festival but the organisers say they hope visitors will also take the opportunity to explore the many shops and businesses in Burnham on the day too.

Organisers Bev and Sarah Milner Simonds add that this month’s event will be fully environmentally friendly.

“All of the traders will be single-use plastic free, but what does this mean in practice? Well it means no plastic carrier bags for starters – so make sure you remember you tote bags and panniers. All the packaging for food and drink on the day will be compostable and items you take home will be recyclable or compostable.”

“The team are also working with Griffin Cycles to encourage visitors to cycle into the festival – they are offering a free cycle check up and rucksack cover to anyone cycling in. This is been funded by North Somerset Council.”

“We recognise that they will be some extra waste generated on the day so are bringing bins and we appeal for any local clubs, groups or societies who want to raise some extra funds for their activities by helping with litter picking to get in touch via our website.”

Remember there will be road closures on the day: Victoria Street, Princess Street, top of the High Street, College Street and Regent Street will be closed to all traffic from 6am to approx 6pm on Saturday 26th October.
