Police have issued an appeal for witnesses after two men were injured following a “serious incident” outside a Burnham-On-Sea town centre pub during the early hours of Friday (October 11th).
Police were called to Burnham’s Pier Street at around 12.45am where the incident had occurred outside The Old Pier Tavern.
Police spokesman Sam Evry told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We were called following reports of a disorder.”
“A man in his 30s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of affray and possession of a bladed article before being taken to hospital for treatment for a wound to his back.”
“A second man aged in his 20s presented at Musgrove Park Hospital a short time later. He also had wounds which required treatment and is believed to have been involved in the incident.”
Specialist crime scene investigators examined the area throughout Friday and enquiries are ongoing.
A spokesman for the Old Pier Tavern added: “Due to a serious incident in the street outside The Old Pier Tavern, there is an ongoing investigation by the police. We are co-operating in every way and have been advised while these investigations are under way to close the Tavern for two weeks.”
“I am sorry for any inconvenience this will cause and trust you will bear with us during this period. I can only apologise for this to all the performers and patrons.”
