Video: Chip shop gives Singing Children of Africa free meals and gets musical thanks!

-

Kind-hearted staff at a Highbridge fish and chip shop gave free meals to the young members of the Singing Children of Africa following their concert in the town this week — and were rewarded with a song!

Robs Fish and Chip Shop in Highbhridge’s Church Street welcomed the children after their concert in nearby St. John’s Church.

The children are from a locally-run charity called Educate the Kids and are all pupils at the group’s school in a poor area north of Mombasa. They are visiting the Burnham and Highbridge area this week.

“We had the privilege of hearing the beautiful voices from the amazing Singing Children Of Africa Choir,” said a spokesperson at the fish bar.

“They popped by after their performance at St John’s Church to collect their traditional Fish and Chips and treated us to this brilliant song!”

“We were thrilled that we were able to donate not only a hot, delicious meal to all but also support such an amazing charity in other ways too.”

“The staff donated all the tips received from the past month to the charity and the owners also contributed a financial donation.”

“The charity’s box remains in the shop if anyone would like to donate.”

The children will be singing at Burnham’s Princess Theatre this evening (Friday).
