Brent Knoll rallies together to create new traffic-calming scarecrow after vandalism

-

Residents in Brent Knoll have rallied together after mean-spirited vandals set on fire two scarecrows set up by a busy road in Brent Knoll with the aim of slowing traffic down.

The creations were installed next to Ham Road to encourage motorists to watch their speed — but they were both torn down and destroyed on Friday night (September 13th), as we reported here.

Villager Angie Hicks says that since Burnham-On-Sea.com ran the article they have been inundated with positive offers of help and support.

“The residents of Ham Road have all got together over the weekend and made another scarecrow.”

“I would like to thank everyone for their kind support and enthusiasm, especially the children, and all the effort put into creating our traffic calming scarecrows.”

She added that they have had an “immediate effect on vehicles coming into this narrow 30mph stretch. Thank you to all the drivers for taking it so seriously.”
