A porpoise found washed up on Brean beach this week had died of ‘several injuries’.
A team of Marine Mammal Medics from Burnham-On-Sea’s BARB Search & Rescue was called to the scene on September 5th.
A BARB spokesman said: “Our fully-trained Marine Mammal Medics were called to Brean beach at 11.48am after a report of a porpoise being washed up on the tideline.”
“Our crew drove to the scene, between Berrow and Brean, and found a young male porpoise that had suffered several injuries.”
“After a full check, it was confirmed that it had sadly died.”
“BARB’s Marine Mammal Medics team have a full range of specialised equipment and have undertaken extensive training to help porpoise and dolphins along our coastline when required. Sadly, it wasn’t needed this time.”
