A Burnham-On-Sea church is filled with colourful quilts and flowers for a unique festival this weekend.
Burnham’s Our Lady and The English Martyrs Church in Highbridge Road is holding the festival between September 12th and 14th.
Quilters and flower arrangers from local churches and groups across Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge will create the floral arrangements and show off their quilted creations.
The free event will be open from 10am until 5pm on Thursday and Friday and 10am until 4.30pm on the Saturday.
A unique quilt, with squares made last term by Class 4 at St Joseph’s school, will be on show at the Festival of Flowers and Quilts. It comes after the term topic of ‘bugs’ was an interesting inspiration for the squares.
Pat Nicholls, co-organiser of the event, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “A special feature this year is an African Corner, with quilts and flowers inspired by that continent.”
“Several local businesses have sponsored the Festival which is free to visit, with a donations jar to help meet the costs.”
“Do come along for a feast of colour and creativity, and relax with a cup of tea and a piece of cake.”
