Huntspill & District Cricket Club opens refurbished clubhouse and pavilion

-

Huntspill & District Cricket Club has officially opened its refurbished clubhouse and pavilion.

On Sunday (August 25th), a celebration of all aspects of the club was held to mark the opening.

The day included cricket activities for the youth section and the newly formed ladies team in the morning, before many players both past and present joined guests who had played their part in enabling the refurbishment to take place.

The new Pavilion was then
opened by Somerset Cricket Board Chairman Andy Curtis.

Club Chairman Dave Counsell thanked club sponsors Fusion Leisure and Aldi for their support and he said: “The newly refurbed pavilion has become a social hub for the club.”

Andy Curtis said he was “impressed” by the excellent playing facilities and family atmosphere at the club and thanked Jon Randall and John Davey for their “drive, vision and hard work” in seeing the project completed.

As part of the celebration, the junior section were presented with end of season trophies.

The club has plenty to offer, with coaching for children 5 years upwards, under 11s and under 13s, a ladies soft ball side and two senior sides who play in the Somerset Cricket League and a Midweek side.

2019 has seen the club have its most successful season with the 2nd Xl already promoted from Division 7, the 1 xl needing just 6 points to secure promotion, winning the Somerset Knockout Minor Cup at the county ground and runners up in the Midweek League.
