Hundreds of fans of comic book heroes such as Batman, Star Wars and Superman crowded into Burnham-On-Sea’s Princess Theatre on Saturday (August 17th) for the town’s second Comic Con.

The popular event – which was first held in Burnham-On-Sea in 2017 – was held from 10am and included special VIP guests, exhibitor stalls, props and a Cosplay Masquerade.

Organiser Jade Parkes told Burnham-On-Sea.com the event had been a “huge success” and thanked those who had supported it.

Clem So, who has been in 30 major films to date, such as Guardians Of The Galaxy, James Bond, 47 Ronin, Assassins Creed, Jurassic World, Sherlock was among the stars there to meet fans and sign autographs.

VIP guests also included Brian Wheeler from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, Life is Too Short and Stag of the Dead; plus Jon Davey, who has played various monsters in 38 Doctor Who episodes.

Derrick Martin, known as Charlie Slater from Eastenders and Only fools and horses, The Bill and Little Britain, was also there, meeting fans.

She said: “We had over 44 exhibitors including 20 different props for pictures to be taken with, professional cosplayers such as the group Somerset Cosplayers and Angel Effects, plus performers walking around throughout the day. Kingston Exotics also brought along various animals for the public to see such as lizards, snakes and owls.

“And, of course, there will be stalls for everything comic, gaming, film & TV, anime and book-related where you will be able to buy merchandise, clothing and collectables.”
