Burnham-On-Sea mum and daughter raise £300 for Cancer Research UK

-

Burnham-On-Sea mum Tina Beecham and her daughter Leah put their best foot forward for Cancer Research UK by participating in the Race for Life fundraiser.

Tina, who is a staff support team member at Burnham-On-Sea Specsavers, paired up with her daughter to take part in the 5k race, which was at Bridgwater and Taunton College.

They raised £120 for Cancer Research UK, with an additional £180 being donated by Burnham-On-Sea Specsavers.

Tina told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “It was amazing to run with my Daughter. I was very proud to complete the race with her. We were good at motivating each other.”

“We’re very grateful to Rama and store staff for their donation, and to our generous customers. Race for Life is very important to us all because everyone knows someone who has been affected by cancer in some way.”

“It is a terrible disease, and we wanted to contribute in a small way to help towards Cancer Research UK finding a cure.”

Race for Life is Cancer Research UK’s biggest series of fundraisers. Taking place across the UK, the events include 5k and 10k routes for participants to walk, jog or run, as well as the Pretty Muddy obstacle events.

Race for Life began 25 years ago. It has gone on to raise nearly £500million towards beating cancer.

Rama says: “We applaud Tina and Leah. I know they were very determined to take part in Race for Life, and I congratulate them on their amazing efforts. The money they’ve raised will go towards Cancer Research UK’s lifesaving work to fund laboratories, tests and treatments of all 200 types of cancer.”
