Police investigate Burnham-On-Sea fire that destroyed this stolen motorbike

-

Burnham-On-Sea Police have begun an investigation into a fire that destroyed a motorbike in the early hours of Friday morning (July 19th).

A Burnham fire crew was called to Worston Lane in Burnham just before 12.30am after a resident reported the bike in flames. It had been stolen from Burnham’s Beatty Way.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “One fire appliance from Burnham was immediately mobilised by Fire Control.”

“On arrival the Incident Commander confirmed that one motorbike was fully involved in fire and quickly got crews to work to extinguish the fire with a hose reel jet. The vehicle, which was 100% damaged by fire, was left in the care of the Police. The cause was deliberate.”

Police spokesman Wayne Baker added: “We were made aware of a motorcycle which was found burned out in Worston Lane, in Burnham. It had been taken from a property nearby in Betty Way sometime after midnight. The owner has been made aware.”

“Police enquiries into the incident are continuing. Anyone with any information is asked to contact us, quoting 5219164869.”
