A sheep has been rescued by firefighters from a ditch next to Burnham-On-Sea’s Frank Foley Parkway.
One crew was sent to the fields near the junction with Thorndike Way at 8.20pm on Monday (July 15th) after a resident raised the alarm.
“An Fire Service animal rescue advisor was mobilised following a call from a member of the public reporting a sheep that had fallen into a ditch and was unable to climb back out again,” said a spokesman.
”It was believed to have been there for some time and was in distress.”
“After assessing the scene a fire appliance from Burnham On Sea was mobilised to effect the rescue.”
”They arrived on scene at 8.34pm and by 8.47pm confirmed they had rescued the animal, unharmed, using a ladder and some lines.”
