Britain In Bloom judges ‘impressed’ by Burnham-On-Sea during visit

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s hopes of achieving success in the Britain In Bloom competition were given a boost this week when two judges visited the town.

Burnham In Bloom Chairman Dave Perrett gave the two judges a guided tour of the town on Wednesday (July 10th), as pictured here.

Dave told Burnham-On-Sea.com that judges Graham Price and Bob Collier were “impressed” by what they saw, although we won’t know the final results until the awards announcement in the autumn.

“We hope that we’ve done well – it was a good visit and our hopes of a gold award this year are very much alive.”

“The judges started off by the fountain next to Coffee Corner, and then visited the signal box in Old Station Approach, the High Street, the Esplanade, G&H Tyres, Apex Park, through a couple of residential estates, and then called in at Salt Express and Home Farm.”

“The judges visited Sunny Lawns, Pembroke Close and Burnham Infants School – the community ‘It’s your neighbourhood’ entries. They were impressed by the sensory gardens at Kathleen Chambers nursing home in Berrow Road and also praised Burnham Infants School. They singled them out in particular.”

“Some of the grass verges in the town are not in a great state, but the judges did say the flower beds along The Esplanade really look lovely.”

Dave added: “We won’t know until October how we’ve done but it all seemed to go well and we are hoping for gold!”
