Highbridge resident issues appeal after she and two men are hurt in town ‘assault’

-

A Highbridge resident has issued an appeal for witnesses after she and two other people were hurt in an alleged assault in the town on Monday evening (July 1st).

Kym Mast says she suffered “severe concussion and swelling” of her face in the attack at 12.50am next to the main Church Street roundabout.

Two other people with her at the time were also hurt, and all three were taken by ambulance to Taunton’s Musgrove Hospital.

She has posted these photos of her injuries on social media in an effort to raise awareness of the incident and identify the culprit.

Kym told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I have only lived in Highbridge for a month. All I remember is that a bloke with dark complexion made a comment to me as I was walking home with my partner and another male.”

“I replied that I wasn’t interested and our friend also told him I wasn’t interested. Next thing I know is our friend had been punched to the floor. I tried telling the bloke to stop.”

“He then attacked me. My boyfriend shouted at him and he then attacked my boyfriend as well. I put our friend into the recovery position as he was unresponsive.”

“The Police and ambulance were called. Some people came out of their properties and seen the attack.”

“All three of us were taken to Taunton Hospital. I was discharged from there, but my state worsened so I went to Weston Hospital where I was put on IV fluids and had a CT scan.”

“I don’t have broken bones, just severe concussion and swelling of my lips, eye and nose.”

She added: “My partner has been recently recovering from a motocross accident so is walking with a stick and this bloke has re-fractured his leg and he also has minor internal bleeding, just as he was just starting to heal properly.”

Anyone with information should contact Burnham and Highbridge Police on 101.
