Wreaths have been laid at Burnham-On-Sea’s war memorial this week to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
John Crosby of Burnham’s branch of the Royal British Legion laid a wreath at the Love Lane memorial in memory of those Burnham and Highbridge people who gave their lives.
Burnham and Highbridge’s Deputy Mayor Cllr Bill Hancock and Deputy Mayoress Frances Hancock also laid a wreath on behalf of the Town Council.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Andy Brewer said: “I’m sure many of us have been touched by the accounts and recollections we’ve heard this week regarding the Normandy landings 75 years ago.”
“Our thoughts are very much with the families of local people who lost their lives fighting for the freedom we all enjoy.”
