A coach at Burnham-On-Sea Swim and Sports Academy has completed the world’s largest 70.3-mile long Ironman competition.
Martin Rogers travelled to Mallorca at the weekend to compete in the gruelling race along with over 4,000 athletes from around the world.
He completed the race – comprising a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile half marathon – in a time of five hours, 10 minutes and six seconds.
Sara Cox Conklin at Burnham Swim & Sports Academy said: “What an inspiring and exciting race at the Ironman 70.3 Mallorca. Martin put in a fantastic swim, strong bike and a really gutsy run in hot and windy conditions to complete the World’s Largest 70.3 Ironman!”

The “70.3” refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run.
