A cyclist suffered a ‘serious head injury’ in an accident on the A370 near Burnham-On-Sea on Friday morning (May 10th).
The A370 Bridgwater Road at Lympsham was closed by Police while emergency services were at the scene – and a casualty was air-lifted to hospital.
A Police spokeswoman said: “We were called to reports of an collision involving a cyclist and lorry near to the Catherine Inn on the A370 Bridgwater Road at Lympsham at about 7.45am. The cyclist suffered a serious head injury and has been taken to Southmead Hospital. The road which was initially closed for the incident re-opened at about 9am.”
A South Western Ambulance Service NHS Trust spokeswoman added: “We were called at 7.36am to a road traffic incident on the A370 Bridgwater Road. We sent an air ambulance, an operations officer and an ambulance to attend the incident. A male patient was conveyed by air ambulance to the nearest major trauma centre for treatment.”
