A renowned snow and sand artist who is well known for his huge symmetrical displays created his 100th sand design on Brean beach at the weekend.
Simon Beck, 60, spent much of Bank Holiday Monday creating an impressive 85-metre wide design on the sands next to Brean Down, as pictured here.
Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, he said: “It was a special one for me – the 100th design I have created here on Brean beach over the last few years.”
“I spent an hour measuring the design with 10 pointed stars and then took over five hours drawing it using my specially adapted rake.”
“I’m used to creating art in the snow and but the hard sand here is perfect. I received plenty of positive feedback through the day.”
“It’s rewarding to look down on the completed work from the top of Brean Down before it gets washed away by the incoming tide.”
Simon, who has appeared in the national media for his work, also published a book featuring some of his best snow art designs.
He says that he will be back again on Brean Beach soon to complete further designs.
