The candidates set to stand in next month’s European elections have been announced with several famous names on ballot papers that Burnham-On-Sea residents will be able to consider.
Ann Widdecombe, Rachel Johnson (sister of Boris Johnson), Lord Andrew Adonis and serving MEP Molly Scott Cato are among the more recognisable names standing to serve the South West at the European Union (EU).
Six MEPs will represent the South West, which includes the Burnham-On-Sea area. The vote, assuming no Brexit deal is agreed in time, will be held on Thursday May 23rd, three weeks after council elections.
The deadline to register to vote in the EU elections is May 7th at midnight, or at 5pm on May 8th for a postal vote, and May 15th at 5pm for a proxy vote.
