Burnham-On-Sea beach warden bitten by dog on Berrow beach

-

A Burnham-On-Sea beach warden is recovering after being bitten by a dog at Berrow.

Sedgemoor District Council says the incident has been reported to Avon and Somerset Police after the beach warden was injured last Friday.

Council spokeswoman Claire Faun told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “One of the beach wardens was bitten on the hand by a stray dog on Berrow Beach whilst trying to secure him and read his collar/tag.”

“He took himself to Burnham Hospital for a check-up and received a tetanus jab. He was then referred for an x-ray at Bridgwater Hospital.”

She added that he has since returned to work patrolling the beach over the Easter holiday period. The council has referred the matter to Avon and Somerset Police.
