Police hunt driver of silver car after motorist dies in Wedmore crash

Police have issued an appeal for the owners of a silver car to come forward after a fatal accident near Burnham-On-Sea on Sunday (April 7th).

A man tragically died after his car left a road and ended up in a ditch. The victim was declared dead at the scene, after the crash on the B3151 in Wedmore.

Avon and Somerset Police say it occurred between Westhay Moor Drove and Totney Drove, at 6.54am.

A spokesman says: “The single-vehicle collision was reported at about 6.45am on Sunday 7 April when a silver Jaguar XF was found in a ditch on the B3151 Blakeway near Fir Tree Farm.”

“Police, fire and ambulance attended and sadly the driver died at the scene.”

“A silver car is thought to have stopped at the scene in the early hours of Sunday morning, before the collision was reported.  The occupants may have seen the vehicle in the ditch.”

Police sealed off the road as accident investigators examined the scene and the vehicle was recovered from the ditch.

Police signs have been installed at the crash site, as pictured, appealing for information.
