Three local good causes have this week received financial boosts following a successful fundraising evening with a coastal theme organised by Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge’s Mayor.
Cllr Bill Hancock’s event raised a grand total of £3,322.48 shared between his three charities of the year – rescue charities BARB Search & Rescue and Burnham RNLI, plus Litter Free Coast & Sea Somerset.
The three groups received from the Mayor at the start of a council meeting held on Monday evening (March 4th).
The fundraising evening was held last month at the Oaktree Arena in Highbridge and was attended by over 180 poeople, as we reported here.
The mayor’s support of the charities ties in with his theme for the year, ‘clean and safe local beaches’.
“It was a very successful evening and we thank everyone who came along or supported us,” he said. “We are delighted the event raised such a great sum for these excellent groups.”
