World Book Day is being marked at a school near Burnham-On-Sea this week with visits from local authors, book swaps and a book fair.
Children and staff at Mark First & Pre-School Academy even dressed up as their favourite book characters for the day and amazed each other with a spectacular range of costumes!
Marked in over 100 countries across the globe, World Book Day is a UNESCO initiative that aims to celebrate both books and reading, especially among younger readers.
In the UK and Ireland, National Book Tokens are sent out so that kids can find a book of their very own – something to unlock the power of their minds in a way that the increasing prevalence of digital screens may not provide.
