A windfall of more than £6,000 has been handed out to 25 local good causes in Burnham-On-Sea this week when the town’s carnival committee presented the proceeds of last year’s collection.
Carnival Collection Convenor Annalee New gave a total of £6,156.89 to the local groups at Burnham’s Lighthouse pub on Friday evening (February 1st), all of whom helped with street collections during last November’s event.
Annalee thanked the organisations for collecting, saying: “I’d like to thank everyone who made a donation at carnival to enable us to support these groups and to those who gave time to participate in the organising of the event.”
The group will hold its AGM at 7.30pm on 13th February at The Coopers Arms, Highbridge and invites anyone who would like to be involved with carnival. No amount of support is too small, say organisers.
