Burnham-On-Sea fire crews help free motorists from car after crash

Burnham-On-Sea firefighters were called to a crash with two persons trapped within the vehicles on Friday (January 25th).

Fire appliances from Cheddar, Glastonbury and Burnham were sent to the junction of Webbington Road and Kennels Lane near the Webbington Hotel just before 1.30pm.

A spokesman said: “The officer in charge confirmed this to be a two vehicle road traffic collision with one casualty trapped in one vehicle and one casualty trapped in a second vehicle.”

“The crew got to work stabilizing the vehicles so that the ambulance service could access the trapped casualties.”

He added: “The crew used hydraulic cutting equipment to remove the door from the vehicle so that the casualty could self-rescue from vehicle. The second casualty was able to exit the vehicle with assistance from the ambulance service.”

“Once both casualties were rescued from the vehicles the crew made the car and the area safe.”

“The care of the two casualties were left in the hands of the ambulance service and the crew returned home station.”
