Floral tributes have been laid in memory of Highbridge woman Laura Biss who was killed a year ago this week.
Laura, 34, died on January 20th, 2018 at 2.20am as she walked along Burnham Road when a van struck her at the junction with North Avenue.
Drink driver Christopher Harris, 35, of Walrow, Highbridge later admitted fatally injuring Laura, who was his partner, and last year he was jailed for seven-and-a-half years after being convicted of dangerous driving.
Friends of Laura have this week marked the sad anniversary by installing flowers on the lamp post at the road junction where she died.
Steph Haven, Hollie Smithers, Abi Sheppard, Antony Doble, Sarah Penfold, Sean Hockley and Kyla Hicks were among the friends who decorated the post on Sunday, as pictured here.
Steph told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Laura was such a creative soul, she loved art and loved life and we felt it was a fitting tribute for our amazing friend.”
“She was such a lovely, friendly outgoing woman and we know she would be looking down smiling.”
“It’s now a beautiful place for all her friends and family to go and remember her.”
Laura’s family said in a statement after her death: “Laura was a beautiful daughter, a fantastic mother and a great sister.”
“She was sensitive, caring and compassionate and would think nothing of going out of her way to help others. She had a great sense of humour which made her very popular. She touched so many people’s lives in a positive way.”
“She was also a talented artist, who had a great future ahead of her. Words cannot express what her loss means to all her family and friends – we are heartbroken and totally devastated.”
