Burnham-On-Sea’s High Street RSPCA charity shop to close down this week

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s RSPCA charity shop in the High Street is closing down this week, the organisation has confirmed.

The shop, on the junction of Burnham’s High Street and Cross Street, opened in 2012 as we reported at the time.

The Burnham’s store’s supervisor, Linda Britton, said this week there are a number of factors for the closure, including “the rates, the fact we have a bigger shop in Regent Street, and the lease was up. Also, footfall in the town has decreased.”

The RSPCA charity shop is closing on Saturday, 19th January and everything in the shop is currently half price.

She added: “Our shop in Regent Street is going to stay in the town. As supervisor I would like to thank everyone who supported our shop through donations and coming in to buy donated goods. Please keep supporting.”

RSPCA spokeswoman Rita Hinton added: “We are enormously grateful to everyone who has supported the work of the RSPCA North Somerset Branch through our charity shop in Burnham High Street. However, the lease on the shop is due for renewal at the beginning of February and a decision has been taken to close on January 19th to enable us to combine the two shops we currently have in Burnham under one roof at our Regent Street premises.”

“Alongside our other shops in Weston-super-Mare, Yatton, Nailsea and Winscombe, the Burnham on Sea shop will continue to offer some fantastic bargains, and opportunities for existing and new volunteers to help generate funds to support our Animal Centre at Brent Knoll and help animals in the local community.”
