Burnham’s Trinity Close Christmas lights raise £8,333 for charity in a month

-

A Burnham-On-Sea cul-de-sac’s stunning display of over 100,000 twinkling Christmas lights which has been dubbed ‘Britain’s most festive street’ by the national media has raised more than £8,000 for two charities in the month since the lights were turned on.

Crowds of visitors have been heading to the Trinity Close display and have dug deep for this year’s charities, raising £8,333 by the end of the fourth week for Burnham’s BARB Search & Rescue and cancer support charity PETAL: The Christine Woodberry Memorial Trust.

The display is lit each night from 4.30pm-10pm until early January, raising money for local charities.

Residents in Trinity Close switched on the Christmas lights on December 1st and the display runs for five weeks.

Last Christmas, the five-week display in Trinity Close attracted crowds of visitors who generously dug deep to raise a sum of £10,427 shared between BARB, which operates Burnham’s rescue hovercrafts, and PETAL: The Christine Woodberry Memorial Trust. BARB will benefit this Christmas.

Residents have decorated their homes top-to-bottom with colourful lights, and this year’s display includes several new illuminations.

Visitors are being encouraged to make donations in a number of collection boxes located around the homes.
