Festive cheer came early for a group of local young carers from the Somerset Young Carers Project when they attended a private screening of The Grinch at the Ritz Cinema in Burnham-On-Sea.
The charity event was put on thanks to the generosity of Pat Scott, owner of Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Cinema, and the Burnham Lions Club, who also provided the young carers with popcorn and refreshments.
Both charities have been actively supporting the Somerset Young Carers Project for a number of years.
These local Young Carers provide substantial amounts of care to a family member whilst juggling school and other pressures.
This trip was therefore a great opportunity for the Young Carers to have some respite from their caring roles and to be ‘children first and carers second’.
Olive Holdom from Burnham Lions Club, who helped organise the event, said: “We enjoy supporting these remarkable youngsters.”
