Travelodge officially opened its new hotel in Highbridge on Friday (November 30th)Â with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The new hotel on the Isleport Business Park represents an investment of £6 million for the landlord and has created 25 new local jobs.
The 75-room hotel has an onsite restaurant called the ‘Bar Café and its own car-park. It is Travelodge’s 570th hotel across the country and its 14th property in Somerset.
The hotel was officially opened by Gary Steele, Travelodge’s South West Regional Director, and David Neale, Travelodge District Manager for Somerset, Devon and Cornwall.
The hotel – called the ‘Highbridge Burnham-On-Sea Travelodge’ – has been styled in the company’s latest contemporary brand design and offers family, double and accessible rooms. with king size beds, bedside USB ports and spacious shelves for charging devices. All rooms have a 32 inch Freeview TV, complementary tea & coffee making facilities and Wi-fi.
Gary Steele, Travelodge’s South West Regional Director, said: “I am delighted to officially open our first hotel in Highbridge Burnham-on-Sea. Our new 570th Travelodge hotel is a great addition and is ideally located to help attract new business and leisure travellers to the area. This is great news for the local economy as our research shows annually Travelodge customers will spend £2 million with local businesses during their stay.”
The new hotel is being managed by Yenny Rodriguez who joined Travelodge as a Bar Café Team Member in 2013. Yenny is one of hundreds of Travelodge employees who started with the company via an entry-level position and has successfully climbed the career ladder into management.
Yenny’s hard work, dedication and passion to succeed, enabled her to qualify for a place on Travelodge’s in-house management development within a year of joining the company. After graduating from the programme she was appointed to Assistant Hotel Manager at Bournemouth Travelodge and then went onto manage the following hotels: Poole Travelodge and Taunton Travelodge.
