Dozens of residents were presented with awards when the annual Burnham In Bloom awards ceremony was held on Friday night (November 23rd).
Scores of residents and business owners gathered in the Town Council Chambers for the annual presentation night. Awards were given to those who helped brighten up the town with floral displays and artwork over the summer.
Burnham-On-Sea’s Mayor Bill Hancock was presented with the South West In Bloom silver award which was awarded to Burnham last month, as we reported here. The award was handed over by Burnham In Bloom’s Dave Perrett, Jo Brown and Richard Young.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Bill Hancock thanked those who had taken part and praised Burnham In Bloom organisers for their work.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Bill Hancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “I’d like to thank everyone who has won and taken part in the competition this year – it’s great to have our towns looking as colourful as possible. It is a great testament to our community that so many join in each year.”
The Chairman’s Shield for the most points went to Mrs Denise Salmon. The Mayor’s Cup went to Burnham Infants School Forest Trail.
And the Neville Jones Decanter, for community work, was presented to Burnham-On-Sea.com’s Mark Newman in recognition of his work in supporting and promoting Burnham In Bloom over the years.
