Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge Town Council will soon be welcoming a new Town Clerk.
Samantha Winter has this week been appointed and will take up the role at the beginning of January.
Sam will replace outgoing Clerk Tatiana Cant who steps down at the end of December and she will spend a few weeks working with her for a smooth handover.
Burnham and Highbridge Mayor Cllr Bill Hancock told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “We’re thrilled that Sam will be joining us next year. We will of course be sorry to see Tatiana leave and she has worked hard to help the Council take on new initiatives.”
“Sam is very knowledgeable and experienced and I’m sure that she will pick up the reins and help us make real progress to the benefit of the community in both our towns.”
Sam has worked with parish and town councils since 2013 and is currently the Town Clerk to Shepton Mallet Town Council where she has enjoyed success in delivering a number of high value projects to improve recreation and to benefit the social and economic regeneration of the town.
Sam is a qualified Clerk and law graduate, and until 2017 was the County Information Officer with the Somerset Association of Local Councils where she advised local councils in Somerset on the laws and procedures affecting the sector.
Sam, who lives with her husband and two children in Mark, said: “I am truly delighted to have been appointed Town Clerk to Burnham and Highbridge Town Council.”
“The parish is already important to my family as it’s where we shop, socialise and eat out. It’s a really exciting privilege to be given the opportunity to work for the continued improvement of the area.”
