Highbridge recycling centre to open later at weekends as part of a series of changes in 2019

-

Highbridge’s waste recycling centre is set to open later at weekends when a number of changes are introduced to the service next Spring.

All recycling sites across Somerset are set to open until 4pm on both Saturdays and Sundays, and will stay open later on weekdays – to 6pm in the summer, and 5pm in the winter – from the start of April 2019.

The changes are part of a raft of changes to Somerset’s waste services, with extra weekly plastics recycling, three-weekly rubbish collections, and an end to landfilling most refuse being planned from 2020.

The organisation’s Managing Director, Mickey Green, said: “These improvements reflect what customers have told us they want, especially the extra weekend hours and later summer evenings.”

“Most importantly, they ensure all 16 sites stay open, and that each site’s hours carefully match the existing use and future needs as Somerset’s population and housing stock expands.”

The recycling centre on Highbridge’s Isleport Business Park is currently open on Mondays from 8:00 am – 7:00 pm; Thursdays – Saturdays 8:00 am – 4:00 pm; and Sundays 8:00 am – 1:00 pm.
