Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Social Club has launched a fundraising campaign to buy a new life-saving defibrillator.
The club in Victoria Street hopes to raise £1,000 towards the cost of the new equipment which it says will benefit its members and the community.
“Please support this new initiative if you can by dropping spare change into the collecting tins on the bar and look out for forthcoming fundraising events,” says a spokesman.
“Sudden cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time. The initiation of an AED use within minutes can raise a victim’s chances of survival to almost 80%.”
