Eat:Burnham organisers celebrating ahead of Saturday’s food festival

-

Burnham-On-Sea’s food and drink festival returns to the town centre this Saturday (October 27th) and the team behind it will be celebrating their success at the Somerset Business Awards and shortlisting in three categories at the National Outdoor Events Association awards.

The eat:Burnham team triumphed in the “Investing in Somerset” category, sponsored by Hinkley Point C.

Citing the festivals’ commitment to all things local, the award recognises organisations who are passionate about supporting Somerset’s economy through local activity and can demonstrate this through their use of local employment, training, trading or regional supply.

Paying tribute to their producers, organiser Sarah Milner Simonds said: “We were over the moon to collect the Investing in Somerset award. Our work is focused on the hundreds of small businesses we work with over the course of the festival year. Knowing that our efforts to build sustainable food and drink businesses in our host towns, and producers throughout the country is valued spurs us in to achieve more.”

The NOEA awards recognise excellence in the outdoor events industry. “These awards are all about recognizing the very best in the industry, and the winners join a long list of exceptional people and companies that have shaped the industry we’re in today,” said Susan Tanner, CEO of the National Outdoor Events Association.

“The awards evening, on 21st November, will once again be very special, based in the heart of Bath, in the historic Pump Rooms, we hope to be once again surrounded by the best of the best.”

eat:Festivals are shortlisted in the Best Practise Award, Large Festival of the Year and Event Organisers of the Year.

This Saturday sees the largest festival to date in Burnham and includes livestock from Plotgate CSA, tractors from Smart Ag, Punch & Judy shows, face painter, street entertainment and a laid back festival soundtrack from Thomas Court productions. The festival is trading from 9am-4pm and is free to attend.
