An apprentice at Burnham-On-Sea and Berrow Golf Club has achieved a fantastic second place in the UK’s Young Student Greenkeeper of the Year category at a regional awards ceremony.
Liam Pigden, 21, a Bridgwater & Taunton College greenkeeping Apprentice, is currently studying Level 3 Greenkeeping and works as an Apprentice at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club.
The Apprenticeship means he’s able to achieve a recognised qualification whilst earning a wage doing a job he loves.
Each year the awards enable the British and International Golf Greenkeeping Association, turf maintenance manufacturer Toro and distributor Reesink Turfcare to celebrate those talented young greenkeepers who are dedicating themselves to a career within the industry.
Liam says he is “delighted” with his second place and has now set his sights on the Future Turf Managers Initiative, a national conference designed to help future golf course managers to pursue their career aspirations.
