Night launch for Staines Whitfield Lifeboat

Burnham-On-Sea RNLI were called to help in the search for two people reported to be missing in the sea near the old Lighthouse.

The Staines Whitfield was launched shortly after 22:15 on Saturday August 7th after beach fisherman alerted coastguards to seeing two youths in their mid-20s running into the sea then not being heard for several minutes.

Burnham-On-Sea RNLI’s Atlantic 75 lifeboat, with three crew and a helm onboard, began a thorough search of the shoreline and the missing pair were found shortly afterwards, before being returned to the beach where they were taken to a waiting ambulance at nearby Maddocks Slade.
