Mobile phone marking session in Burnham attracts good response

Mobile phone owners in Burnham-On-Sea took the chance to get their handsets security marked at a special police event in the town this week.

Burnham’s Town Centre Local Action Team, in partnership with Avon and Somerset Constabulary’s Community Policing Unit, invited residents to have their handsets ultra-violet marked for free.

Marked phones have a better chance of being returned to their owners should they be lost or stolen.

PCSO Stuart Nichols of Burnham Police said: “We value every chance to work in partnership with other agencies and the community. The Local Action Team is an example of the police and the community working together to reduce crime and disorder in the local area.”

Further mobile phone marking sessions are planned this summer in Burnham and Brean. Dates will be shown in Burnham-On-Sea.com’s What’s On section.
