Burnham in Bloom winners pick up their awards at special ceremony
Green-fingered Burnham-On-Sea residents of all ages gathered together over the weekend to pick up the awards they won in this year’s Britain In Bloom competition.
More than 30 children, residents and business owners were handed their awards by Dave Perrett, the organiser of Burnham and Highbridge’s entry into the annual competition, at a special ceremony in the town council’s chamber in Jaycroft Rd.
Mr Perrett received the prestigious Alf Crouch Memorial Trophy last month for his outstanding effort in promoting Burnham and Highbridge in Britain In Bloom. Overall, Highbridge received a South West In Bloom Certificate for the SWTA Cup and Burnham picked up a bronze in The Sargent Cup.
The Weekly News, which has been running a campaign to promote Burnham’s entry in the competition, also picked up a prize when its reporter Dan Sales was presented with a decanter for his support of this year’s event.
