Car pulled from sea after getting stuck on Burnham-On-Sea beach

Rescuers came to the aid of two fishermen whose car became stuck in the sea on Burnham-On-Sea beach early on Saturday morning, November 19th.

The anglers were setting off for a day’s fishing in Bridgwater Bay at 6.30am when during the process of launching their boat near the jetty their vehicle got stranded on a muddy sand bank.

With a fast-incoming tide, the sea water quickly lapped up to the windscreen and despite the best efforts of the pair to pull it free, the car would not budge.

“It was caught behind the dip of a sand bank and just wouldn’t move,” one of the two anglers told Burnham-On-Sea.com.

“The wheels were stuck and despite a lot of pulling, we couldn’t get the vehicle out.”

Several minutes later, local boat owner Nick Prout of The Boat Shed came to their rescue and pulled the stricken car free using a landrover.

The white Nissan Primera GX was suffering from electrical problems, but is expected to be back in action again soon.
