Burnham-On-Sea ambulance boss recieves £1,800 Christmas boost
A Burnham-On-Sea St John Ambulance worker who saved his father’s life has been given the perfect Christmas gift – £1,800 for vital new kit.
As exclusively reported on Burnham-On-Sea.com, Keith Gough had been called on to save his father Peter when he suffered a heart attack on his way to hospital in Keith’s St John ambulance.
Keith used a defibrillator to restart his 66 year-old father’s heart – and while the equipment did the job, it is old fashioned and badly needs replacing, so Keith set out to raise £1,800 for a new model.
But this week, his bosses at the Bristol Contributory Welfare Association heard about his heroics, and decided they would donate the entire sum he needs – enabling a brand new system like the one shown here to be bought.
Keith, pictured with his father, told Burnham-On-Sea.com he is “delighted” with the contribution.
He added: “The new defib will be smaller, more up-to-date and will react more to each patient’s needs by giving them a shock tailored to their condition.”
Any further cash donations will be put towards replacing similar old models in other Somerset St John Ambulance stations.
