Christmas lights competition winners receive prizes from Mayor

Burnham-On-Sea Mayor Eric Gill this week handed over trophies to the four winners of the annual Christmas competition to find the town’s best decorated homes and businesses.

It comes after two judges from Burnham and Highbridge Town Council – Hilary Rose and Pat Burge – toured the two towns and scored the decorations to find the area’s best festive lights in the annual Christmas Lights Competition.

Tim Potts, properietor of Sentiments in the High Street, collected the prize for the best dressed shop in Burnham-On-Sea.

Best decorated house in Burnham:
Phillipa Davis was the winner of the best dressed house in Burnham. Her home at 3 Truro Close was a riot of colour this year.

Best decorated shop in Highbridge:
Winner of the best dressed shop window in Highbridge was the Highbridge DIY Shop in Market Street. Owner Arthur Dormer collected his award.

Best decorated house in Highbridge:
Lynn and Tony East were judged the winners of the best-decorated house in Highbridge at 4 Lobelia Close.

The judges passed on their verdict on the entries: “Houses in Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge were very difficult to make a decision on because, once again, residents continue to rise to the spirit of the occasion.”
