Members of a popular 1980s Burnham-On-Sea rock group are reforming for the first time in 20 years to hold a special tribute concert for one of their former band members who died in an accident at a night club in the town.
Jon Cotton, 37, died after falling down the stairs at Shakers Night Club last December.
His friends were so shocked by the accident that they wanted to hold an event to remember him.
And because Jon was a member of popular Burnham band The Mystery Boys during the 1980s, his fellow band members are reforming and putting on a special concert as a tribute.
Andy Hills, who was a member of the band, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “There was a big turnout at Jon’s funeral and we wanted to do something special to remember him.”
“Jon was a great guy – he was probably the only ‘real musician’ amongst us and played the drums incredibly well.”
“We’ll be playing some of the songs that he helped to write.”
The band consisted of Andy Hills (vocals), Mark ‘Harry’ Johnson (guitar), Paul Stradling (bass) and Jon Cotton (drums).
The special concert will be held on Saturday March 4th in Burnham-On-Sea’s Ritz Club from 8pm to 2am.
Tickets, costing £7, will be CDs with recordings of Jon playing the drums with the band.
Andy, Mark and Paul have also recorded a special song, which is on the CD, called “Thank You.”
Money raised from the night will go towards The Children’s Society. Tickets are available now from GC Music or by calling 01278 793848.
Also playing will be three of Burnham-On-Sea’s leading current bands; The Winkers, Vermin and The Ginger Hitlas.
