Burnham-On-Sea and Highbridge residents are being encouraged to vote for the town’s Marine Cove Gardens and Apex Park to win a nationwide competition to find the UK’s favourite parks.
The deadline for voting in the The People’s Choice Awards to select the UK’s best parks is this evening (Sunday September 30th) at midnight.
Both the Burnham and Highbridge parks have been short-listed in the awards after receiving Green Flag Awards from Keep Britain Tidy earlier this year.
Now residents can have their say in a nationwide online poll, with Burnham’s Marine Cove gardens here and Highbridge’s Apex Park here. The top 10 winning parks are due to be announced on 16th October.
Paul Todd, Green Flag Award Manager said: “This year, 1883 parks and green spaces met the tough standards demanded by our Green Flag Award Judges but we want to know which parks the UK public love the most.”
“The People’s Choice award is a chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. If it’s worth shouting about, make your voice heard and vote now.”
Sedgemoor District Council, which manages both the Burnham and Highbridge parks, has urged residents to get their votes in before for the deadline later today.
To vote, readers can also go to www.greenflagaward.org and find the local parks on the winners map, then click the voting button to make your voice counted in the People’s Choice Award.
