Over 50 colourful scarecrows were on display in Brent Knoll at the weekend when the village held its popular annual scarecrow festival.
Villagers set up the fun scarecrows alongside roads, gardens and paths across the village, as pictured here.

The judges decided this year’s winners were: 1st – Gruffalo – The Baker Family; 2nd – The Wind in the Willows – The Steer/Snellgrove Family; and 3rd – Winnie The Pooh – Poplar Farm.
Highly Commended were Paddington Bear – The Field Family; Tractor Ted – The Luff Family; The Gingerbread Man – Donaldson Class, Brent Knoll School; Popeye – The Criddle Family; The Invisible Man – The Steer Family; Gone with the Wind – The Dimmock Family; and Room on the Broom – Christine Sandy.

Jane Sinnott, one of the organisers, told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Despite a wet start on the Saturday, the event was well supported on both days.”
“A big thank you goes to everyone who took part this year – we had 52 scarecrows in total and the amount of detail was really impressive.”
During the weekend, several local authors also read their stories to families taking part in the scarecrow trail. Burnham author Anne Poole is pcitured below and others included Sonny Topham, Julie Weston, and Carol Roberts.
