Burnham-On-Sea greengrocer named a finalist for top newcomer award

-

A Burnham-On-Sea town centre greengrocer is celebrating again after being named as a finalist for a regional award this week.

Gardiner-Whites in Burnham High Street is a finalist in the ‘newcomer of the year’ category in the 2018 Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards.

The newcomer category has three finalists – Cow n Bun in Bridgwater, Gardiner-Whites in Burnham-On-Sea and Sprague’s Butchers in Wellington.

The winners will be announced at The Somerset Life Food & Drink Awards at Somerset County Cricket Club in Taunton on October 18th.

Owners Richard and Jax Gardiner-White, pictured, opened Gardiner-Whites last October in Burnham town centre to offer a mixture of fresh fruit, vegetables and food produce.

Richard told Burnham-On-Sea.com: “Being named a finalist is great recognition for our hard work and very long hours supporting our community.”

“We created this shop not only as a frut and veg shop but as a ‘community hub’ and we have always said from day one that this is ‘your shop’ and we mean it! We built the foundation and our customers have created the soul of the business.”

Last month, we reported here that the greengrover had received a gold ‘Taste of the West’ award for being one of the region’s best specialist retailers.

Gardiner-Whites is a traditional greengrocer with a modern twist, priding itself on being environmentally friendly, with traditional brown paper bags for customers to take away their fresh produce rather plastic bags.
