Burnham-On-Sea’s Avenue Tennis Club is running a new series of training courses for children this month.
The club’s coaches Barry Ramsden and Wendy Pryce are running the LTA ‘Tennis for Kids 2018’ courses.
The courses run for six weeks and take the kids through serving, forehands, backhands and movement.
They cost £25 and included with the six hours of lessons is a Babolat tennis racket, a personalised T-shirt and some balls.
The courses are being run on these dates:
- 4th Sep to 9th Oct – Tuesdays from 6 till 7 for 9 to 11 year olds
- 5th Sep to 10th Oct – Wednesdays from 4 till 5 for 6 to 8 year olds
- 10th Sep to 15th Oct – Mondays from 4 till 5 for 4 to 5 year olds
- 10th Sep to 15th Oct – Mondays from 5 till 6 for 6 to 8 year olds
- 10th Sep to 15th Oct – Mondays from 6 till 7 for 9 to 8 year olds

The tennis club also has a month’s free membership offer available for anyone who wants to give tennis a go and wants to get an insight into the club before joining.
Qualified coaches provide coaching throughout the week for all ages and abilities. Membership of the club allows you access to play on one of the eight floodlit courts (four astro-turfed and four tarmac), together with access to a fantastic clubhouse with a well-stocked bar, wi-fi and superb changing facilities for all.

There are a variety of membership options for the year (eg juniors under 10 is £30, aged 10 to 18 – £40, students – £50, young adults up to 30 not in full time education – £108, older playing members £156, single playing members – £192 and there is also a discount based on how far you are from the tennis club.
The club has organised social and competitive tennis throughout the week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays, together with a variety of subsidised coaching sessions for juniors and adults and Vinny Minis on a Friday evening – free to junior members, ladies and men’s teams that compete in the North Somerset Tennis Leagues.
