Brent Knoll’s Sanders garden centre has unveiled a brand new look this week with new ownership.
As Burnham-On-Sea.com first reported here in July, Blue Diamond has acquired eight garden centres from Wyevale across the UK, including Sanders near Burnham-On-Sea.
New Blue Diamond signage has been unveiled at the centre over the past week and a number of improvements are planned at the store.
Speaking to Burnham-On-Sea.com, Karen Hamer, the new manager, said: “It’s a really exciting time at the centre – customers can expect to see much better value products while retaining the quality, and we will have a much wider product range.”
“Blue Diamond has been in negotiation for some time to take on this store prior to the announcement in the Spring that it was up for sale.”
“All the technology has now changed over the last couple of weeks, new branding has been introduced, and we will be fully rolling out the new look and other changes over the next year.”
“We will also be investing in our children’s play area and reintroducing some of the most popular facilities there to make it more fun for young visitors.”
“Christmas will continue to be a special time at Sanders, with planning already underway for a superb display and a great festive product range.”
“We will also be introducing an improved, wider range of home cooked food in our restaurant to suit all tastes.”
“We are also launching the Blue Diamond Club for our loyal customers – we are still accepting the Wyevale vouchers. Points from the old scheme can be converted across.”
Mrs Hamer, 44, previously spent 15 years at Tesco as a senior manager and says she is looking forward to running the new-look centre.
She added: “We plan to model Sanders on one of our ‘super destination centres’, like those we already own at Redfields and East Bridgford. This is good news for customers.”
Blue Diamond bought Sanders Garden World in Brent Knoll alonsgide Endsleigh in Devon, Percy Throwers in Shrewsbury, Melbicks in the West Midlands, Cadbury near Bristol, Bicester and Weybridge in Surrey. Last year Blue Diamond reported sales of £97m from 20 garden centres.
Sanders was built in 2001 and has been twice voted Garden Centre of the Year. In addition to a restaurant, it has a Costa Coffee cafe plus branded stores for Cotton Traders, Mountain Warehouse, Granite Transformations, Maidenhead Aquatics, Pet Zone and Edinburgh Woollen Mill.
Sanders will be raising money for Marie Curie and is also looking for local charities to sponsor and help.
